</aside>
ARC | One act of the story, collecting multiple chapters, which transforms characters and contribute a significant progress to the plot. Is subject to a thematic whole. |
---|---|
CHAPTER | A fragment of an arc, collecting multiple scenes, in which the plot moves forward and characters are tested around the theme of the arc. |
SCENE | A fragment of a chapter, collecting multiple beats. Complete one thought of the story (e.g: they prepare, they execute the first part of the plan, they finish…) |
BEAT | The smallest measure of meaning. Something happens. |
SHORT REST | A moment of respite during an arc when the characters momentarily stop pursuing the objective. They have a moment to breathe, heal, think, resolve emotional blockages that prevent them from moving forward. |
LONG REST | A moment between arcs that serves as a reward to the character for completing the arc, develop the themes in a more relaxed way. |
